Ayurveda: An ancient and natural methodology for curing all kinds of diseases. Ayurveda believes that all humans have their own body types ,
made up of chiefly three constituents:
"Vata" meaning air element,
"Pitta" meaning literally the fire element and
"Kapha" , meaning the water and earth element.
I will not go into deeper details here as this blog tries to help netizens to cure their diseases and to help them understand their body types so that they can follow a proper diet regimen so as to prevent a disease or a "Dosha" as said in Hindi.
How to determine which body type do ya have?
It is very simple , if you have any of the three Vata, Pitta or Kapha in excess then it is said that you have the following nature or body type.
For eg., if someone has Pitta in excess (if so, is always by birth), he/she is said to have Pitta "Prakriti"(or Nature), and same for other two also.
What actually are Doshas?:
Naturally there is a balance in all the three constituents ,but when an individual starts living unnaturally, like unhealthy lifestyle, wrong food
combination("Viruddha Aahar"), bad sleeping habits etc., he/she distorts that balance and that distortion is the root cause of all the diseases found in human beings. That's why some food suits to others and some does not is because everyone was born with a different Prakriti or balance.
And however hard we try, our constituents will remain in the same proportion ,the best example is liposuction therapy, you may have seen that most people who are excessively fat (excess Kapha Dosha), will tend to remain fat, no matter how many liposuctions were operated on them, and similarly some people are very thin(excess Vata Dosha), and they hardly gain any weight, no matter how much fatty foods or whatever they eat, their body won't accept to add a few more pounds.
The change in Doshas with ageing:
Childhood- Kapha increases more than the rest two - Characterised with cold, respiratory problems, fevers etc.
Adolescence + Medium years- Pitta increases more than the rest two - Characterised with acne, other skin problems, hormonal changes and others.
Old Age- Vata increases more than the rest two - Characterised with pains in bone joints, especially knees and back, gas and acidity, slow digestion..
Identification of doshas:
The best way to find out quickly is to fill up this (link) Vata-Pitta-Kapha test(VPK test) form,
which I found after a bit of Googling, it will also tell you what diet you should eat according to your Nature.
