Heart Diseases & Making your Heart strong - The Natural Way

Heart is the topmost important organ in our body. And just as we say for other muscles "Use it or lose it", same applies here. Although it is being used all day, but depending on the amount of cholesterol rushing through your veins , it can create a blockage in the veins around the heart ,a  condition what we normally refer to as "Heart Attack" when it worsens.

There are a lots of ways to keep your heart healthy , as mentioned in Ayurveda , but the most effective practice is doing cardiovascular exercises that increases the blood flow and clears out the veins. And there are other little things to take care of such as always try to "urinate" or pee after doing exercises as it flushes out the toxins accumulated after doing exercise.

Heart diseases are very common these days , one of my best friends, Tim Beattie, her mom has  recently been diagnosed of heart disease. Just like a pump, this machine which beats 70 times a minute and pumps about 2000 gallons a day , needs some "maintenance" in order to work continuously.

And if you are unable to get your shoes on and go for a run, or if you are an old aged person with knee problems or other reasons then there are some herbs that can do the job for you.
 r
Main Causes of Heart Diseases:

1.) Indigestion - Cure:- Maintain a healthy lifestyle, routine and timed eating habits and eating according to your nature/"Prakriti". (I will write another post on detailed cure and prevention tips).

2.) Smoking - Cure:- QUIT SMOKING.

3.) Genetically Inherited Cholesterol levels:- example is Bear Grylls[who is a known survival expert featuring in the show Man vs. Wild on Discovery Channel  , has a high cholesterol level genetically and he does extensive cardio to burn the extra fat and checking his diet like eating whole wheat foods and fruits etc. ........ here is the link to the interview given by Bear himself : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-450338/Adventurer-Bear-Grylls-battle-pain-high-cholesterol.html )

4) High Stress Levels :- There are all types of Problems to be worried about, just take them as a "Do-able" challenge rather than worrying all the time . Stress is the biggest hidden factor in all diseases.

5.) Diabetes :- One of the most related disease to heart attack. You won't even feel the pain during heart problems.

6.) High Blood Pressure:- Also one of the main reasons of heart attacks.

Symptoms of heart disease:-

1.) Severe pain or feeling pressure in the middle or in the left side of the chest which can sometimes create sweat.

2.) Feeling like someone has put lots of weight on the chest or feeling like tightly tied to a rope.

3.) Sometimes instead of pain in the chest, it can hurt in other areas such as shoulders, left hand, on the left side of the neck, in the lower jaw, in the elbows or in the area below the ears.

4.) Burning sensation in the stomach, feeling heavy and lethargic, vomiting etc.

5.) Diabetic people can have a heart disease and without pain, so be very cautios if you are Diabetic.

Ayurvedic  herbs for preventing and curing heart diseases:-

Prevention:-

As told earlier , cardio is the best way to keep the heart fit, and other methods, as told by Doctor Dean Ornish (MD)  are :

Doing Yoga and Breathing exercises(Pranayama) on a regular basis and cardio exercises lasting at least 30 minutes.

Now , centuries old Ayurvedic Doctors or "Vaidyas" have already told the same fact.

Common herbs for preventing heart diseases:

1.) Raisins for High Blood Pressure:- Starting from the first day, soak (overnight) one raisin in Rose water, and eat it empty stomach , don't forget to chew well. And gradually increase it to 2,3,4.......... up to 21 on the 21st day , now start decreasing the raisins by one as 20,19,18,.......1. Now stop the process for a week and then start over again in the same manner as done before. After 3 full cycles of this method , your blood pressure will be in control.

2.) Cinnamon powder for High Cholesterol levels:-  Boil 2 grams of Cinnamon powder in 100 ml of water until it remains 50% or 50 ml. Now add 1/2 small teaspoon of pure honey to it and eat/drink empty stomach in the morning. DO NOT take honey if you have Diabetes . Your cholesterol levels will be greatly reduced in 3 months. Avoid any extra sugars throughout the day.

3.) Garlic:- Eat 2 garlics (small parts/not the whole entity) two times a day . It kills harmful bacterias and the Sulfuric element present in garlic makes it a cholesterol controller/reducer. It helps to stop the cholesterol from being clotted in the veins.

Herbs for  Curing heart diseases:

The most demanding topic worldwide "How to cure heart diseases in a natural way?"  . Modern medicines extract the chemicals from plants and then make medicines , but that medicine lacks the "moderating" elements that are naturally present in the herb that cancels any possible side effects. So these natural herbs come for the rescue:

1.) Arjuna (Tree) Bark:-

Arjuna tree or Terminalia Arjuna, is a wonderful and magical remedy for almost all the heart diseases.

This tree was made by god for heart diseases only, its mentioned  in all Ayurvedic texts that i have read and is great for heart. Even if you don't have any heart disease , you can take it without worrying about side effects.

Here is how to take it:

Preparation:

Either take a freshly torn bark and let it dry under shade(not sun) or get Arjuna Bark powder from nearby herbal store and add 200ml water to 200 ml milk (low fat/skimmed) and add 3gm of Arjuna Bark powder and boil it slowly until it remains half of original quantity. When it cools naturally to drinking temperature, then sieve it and drink the resultant "tonic".

Dosage:

Daily , early in the morning ,empty stomach for atleast a month. In most cases it is found to reduce the probability of heart attack to almost zero.

NOTE: All the methods told above are not my own "ideas" , they are taken from a mixture of ancient Ayurvedic texts such as "Sushruta Sanhita", methods of  "Patanjali", and many more so that people can also benefit from these precious herbs and their usage.

Sleep and Health:(EXCELLENT WAY FOR FAT LOSS, MUST READ)!!

When our organs dealing with the five senses (eyes, ear, nose, tongue & skin) and the Brain gets tired after doing work all day, they need rest and our body starts showing signs that a sleep is required. Those who have scheduled their sleeping and waking timings, show more progress in their overall physical and mental health. They stay full of energy all day and they do their daily chores with fun.

Healthy Sleeping

For a good and sound sleep,
  • Eat a light and small meal in the dinner.
  • Have your dinner 2 hours before bed.
  • Your bedroom must be neat & clean, and the height of bed must be to the knees.
  •  It is said that a deep sleep from 10 pm to 4 am alone cures half of the diseases(If you cant wake at 4 am, atleast get up before sunrise).
  • To be healthy, get atleast 6 hours and a maximum of 7.5 hours, no less and no more.
  • Elderly people must sleep 4 hours and those who do strenous physical activity must sleep 7-7.5 hours.
  • Keep the windows open and lightning to a minimum possible.
  • Dont leave your bed as soon as you open your eyes, stretching on bed is very good for health as it increases blood circulation, and after that, thank god for all the facilities you have, provided by mother nature.

Proper Sleeping Posture:
  • Keep your head in either East or South direction. You may think its awful, but believe me Earth's magnetism effects everything including our body.
  • Put your hands folded on your stomach , and sleep with a calm mind.(Not to mention if counting sheep helps you out ,then do it)

Excellent Tip for fat loss

If you are "successful" in getting up early , such as 4 or 5 am(5:30 or 6:00 is not bad either), and you are concerned about losing fat,you are in a situation with a very sharp wood chainsaw and a very soft piece of wood , all you have to do is start using the chainsaw and give the wood a chiseled and dashing appearance.

Now how to do that with the body?
  • First of all, drink a lots of water(i will say as much as you can), recommended is 1 Litre , as soon as you get up, now what water does is that it flushes out the Doshas or toxins developed overnight or the day that you slept and it acts as a natural Body Cleanser. The toxins gets out either through urine or excreta. So make sure the second thing you do after drinking water is you do "excrete" it out, and it will be much easier since you've drank a lots of water.
  • Now as soon as you get out of washroom, you may feel very hungry, BUT NEVER EAT AT THAT MOMENT, that is time when body is in very extreme METABOLIC state and it burns the fat for whatever exercise you do.

  • So my personal experienced advice is, GO FOR A LONG RUN, run/jog for atleast 30-40 mins. and after exercise , do some stretching so you cool down in a proper way and prevent muscle cramps.

AND after exercise , DONT EAT OUT OF CONTROL, i know all that might have made you exhausted, but eat things that are healthy and nutritious such as milk, whole wheat products(bread), and some fruits for a high fibre diet. And for protein , you may eat dairy products but if you are fond of non-vegetarian,that i dont recommend due to high risk of cancer and increased cholestrol levels(although a few fish species are an exception), you can eat it 2-3 hours after breakfast.

And remember to have only a large bowl of salad in the lunch and NOTHING
ELSE for fat loss. And in the evening , eat light food as I told earlier. AND FOLLOW THIS REGIME DAILY, I GUARANTEE YOU WILL SEE NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE
IN JUST A FEW WEEKS.

Acne Treatment(Believe me it works)!!

The Unnecessary Evil  : ACNE

Nearly everyone suffers from acne at one point in their life ,and thats probably why you are here.

REASON:

It happens due to the increased oil production in the oil glands just below the skin, which quickly collects dust particles and accelerates bacteria growth. So ,that was the scientific reason, now Ayurveda already knew this and guides us how to remove/reduce acne with naturally available plantations/resources. Some of you might be in N.America,Canada, some parts of Asia and Europe, may not have these vegetations locally available but can definitely benefit from other  universal methods described below.

CURE:

Note: Please do this regularly for atleast 3 days to see a noticable difference.

1). Aloe Vera

Putting this at number 1 on my list , this little plant is a dynamite when it comes to ANY skin problems, even skin burns. Just peel its skin off and the juicy flesh comes to the rescue when it comes to acne.

How to use:

Very simple , cut a small portion from the plant as seen in the picture , peel the skin off from the convex part and dig the flesh with a fork so that when you press the concave side, it will eject juice.

Wash your face with a mild soap, pat it dry with a clean towel and scrub that aloe vera all over the face so that the juice will cover the acne.
Believe me this simple remedy will overweight the benefits of any expensive cream or gel, no frigging side effects. So what are you waiting for , just wing it.I personally use it. And Aloe Vera is an anti "Pitta" herb that suppresses the fire element, and when there is a skin burn, just apply aloe vera the same way as mentioned above and will help recover quickly. In case severe burns occur, please seek proper medical assistance.

....contd (i will add more remedies very soon)

How long will you live?

How long will you live?

Characteristics of "Ayu" (Life):

In ancient times, "Vaidyas" or Ayurvedic Doctors used to conduct a test before doing any type of "Shalyakriya" or Operation, that was to see how fit is he/she to be treated. There are three types of people as told in Ayurveda:-

1)Dirghayu - Longest Life Expectancy

2)Madhyamayu - Medium Life Expectancy

3)Alpayu or Jaghanya Ayu - Short to Shortest Life Expectancy

Explained:

1)Dirghayu - Longest Life Expectancy
Signs Of People with "Dirghayu"(Long Life Expectancy):
People with following signs are Dirghayu:

                                              Definition One:
Largely built hands and legs, large back, large chest, large face, broad shoulders, large forehead, long fingers, long and deep breaths, big eyes, long arms, heavy voice, head a little extended at the back of the skull, respectively large gap between two chests/breasts,large arm-pits, short thighs, short neck, medium sized genitals, buttocks a little lifted up,flesh filled ears(upper part only).

                                         Definition Two:
Those people whose ligaments, muscle joints are heavy and not easily noticable, and those with solid
muscles, those with high concentrating/focusing power(won't think about other matters while attending one), all body parts like hands, legs, fingers, head etc.built in a perfect proportion, those who are healthy by birth and those in which Body, Mind, Social Values(Personality, Reasoning etc.)
tend to increase gradually with time.

Now those with all or some(but not opposite) characteristics of Def. 1 or Def. 2 are supposed to live more than 75 years, sometimes 100+ years.

Please note that these characteristics although a gift of genetics cannot alone make you live for 100 years, unless otherwise you live a healthy lifestyle. Your body is a gift from mother nature ,now its upto you how you maintain it.

2)Madhyamayu - Medium Life Expectancy Those with mixed characteristics of 1)Dirghayu and 3)Alpayu are said to be Madhyamayu. Some additionally mentioned characteristics are:

Those who have two or more than two long lines visible just under their eyes, legs and ears filled with flesh ,front part of nose lifted upwards.

Those with these characteristics usually don't live more than 70-75 years. But if they have taken care of their body and ate according to what Ayurveda says(for e.g., "Viruddha Aahar"(wrong combination of certain foods), eating at right time(late night food should be avoided),eating healthy, etc.) and have lived life with honesty, truth, not hurting others, lived happily ,no hatred, plus
exercised daily to correct any Dosha developed by tension, stress etc. can live longer than expected.

3)Alpayu or Jaghanya Ayu - Short to Shortest Life Expectancy

Those with opposite characteristics of  Dirghayu are said to be Alpayu. Some additionally mentioned
characteristics are:
Small fingers(small gaps b/w the lines on back side of fingers, that we usually use to do countings),apparently large genitals, arm-pits sucked/pressed inside, small back, ears at a higher point, those whose gums are visible when they laugh, those who can't focus on one work and are quickly diverted to something else(lack of concentration).

People with above features are said to be living anywhere between 25-40 years, sometimes 40+ years when followed  Ayurveda regularly.

No need to worry if you are Madhyamayu or Alpayu!!

Dont start feeling low after knowing that you have a short life expectancy ,its time
for a change. A better and healthy lifestyle ,going to bed early, waking up early, going for a walk/run ,doing Yoga and Pranayama, the types and
benefits of which i will mention in a different post.

Introduction To Ayurveda

Ayurveda: An ancient and natural methodology for curing all kinds of diseases. Ayurveda believes that all humans have their own body types ,
made up of chiefly three constituents:

"Vata"
meaning air element,
"Pitta" meaning literally the fire element and
"Kapha" , meaning the water and earth element.

I will not go into deeper details here as this blog tries to help netizens to cure their diseases and to help them understand their body types so that they can follow a proper diet regimen so as to prevent a disease or a "Dosha" as said in Hindi.

How to determine which body type do ya have?

It is very simple , if you have any of the three Vata, Pitta or Kapha in excess then it is said that you have the following nature or body type.
For eg., if someone has Pitta in excess (if so, is always by birth), he/she is said to have Pitta "Prakriti"(or Nature), and same for other two also.

What actually are Doshas?:

Naturally there is a balance in all the three constituents ,but when an individual starts living unnaturally, like unhealthy lifestyle, wrong food
combination("Viruddha Aahar"), bad sleeping habits etc., he/she distorts that balance and that distortion is the root cause of all the diseases found in human beings. That's why some food suits to others and some does not is because everyone was born with a different Prakriti or balance.

And however hard we try, our constituents will remain in the same proportion ,the best example is liposuction therapy, you may have seen that most people who are excessively fat (excess Kapha Dosha), will tend to remain fat, no matter how many liposuctions were operated on them, and similarly some people are very thin(excess Vata Dosha), and they hardly gain any weight, no matter how much fatty foods or whatever they eat, their body won't accept to add a few more pounds.

The change in Doshas with ageing:

Childhood- Kapha increases more than the rest two - Characterised with cold, respiratory problems, fevers etc.

Adolescence + Medium years- Pitta increases more than the rest two - Characterised with acne, other skin problems, hormonal changes and others.

Old Age- Vata increases more than the rest two - Characterised with pains in bone joints, especially knees and back, gas and acidity, slow digestion..

Identification of doshas:

The best way to find out quickly is to fill up this (link) Vata-Pitta-Kapha test(VPK test) form,
which I found after a bit of Googling, it will also tell you what diet you should eat according to your Nature.
